Add a Payment Method - Credit, Debit and/or ACH Payments
A payment method can be a credit card, debit card or ACH account. A payment method can be added to the "Customer" which is like having it in an online wallet and can be used for multiple lease payments. A payment method can also be added to the "Lease" which is specific to that lease (i.e. auto-charge). A customer may have multiple payment methods saved to their account.
To add a payment method to a Customer:
1. Go to Customers > My Customers and select the customer.
2. Click "Add" in the Payment Methods section.
3. Enter the payment method information.
a. Enter the credit or debit card information and click "Save".
b. Enter the ACH information and click "Save".
Please note: You will only see the ACH option if ACH payments are enabled for your account. ACH payment methods require the customer to verify their bank account information. This customer will be sent an email with instructions to complete the verification process. This payment method won't be usable until the customer completes this step.
Note: After the payment method is is saved, you will be asked if you would like to enable auto-charge. Please select "Yes" or "No" depending on your preference and follow the steps to select the date that you would like the payment to process. After selecting the date, the charges will run on that day of each period thereafter (i.e. the 5th).
To add a payment method to a Lease:
1. Go to the customer's "Lease" tab and click "Edit" in the Payment Method section.
2. Select "Change Payment Method" and click "Add Payment Method".
3. Follow the steps listed above for adding the credit/debit card information or ACH information.
Q: If a customer has multiple units, do I need to enter the payment method for each lease?
A: No, we've made it easy on you to simply add the payment method to the customer's "General" tab and then add it as the payment method for each lease.
Q: If a customer has multiple units and would like to pay with multiple payment methods, it that possible?
A: Absolutely. For example; if a customer has a unit for personal and business use - they may want to provide different payment methods for each unit. Follow the steps above to add each payment method and then associate the appropriate payment method to the respective lease.
